The Proposal

The Proposal
Wednesday March 25, 2009

Well the day Jace Taylor proposed was quite an eventful day. I had some idea that he was going to propose but didn’t know for sure when. You see, he had me read an email from a photographer that wanted to build her portfolio and was doing free engagement pictures. In the email Jace had written that he was going to propose tomorrow. I looked at the date to see when he had written the email and it said 1 am on Wednesday March 25, 2009.  I didn’t know what day he was going by so I was expecting it either that day or the next.
We had wanted to go feed ducks for a while and finally had some free time to go that day. We planned on going after I got some homework done and that ended up being around noon so I needed some food. Jace had just eaten some cereal he said so he wasn't hungry. We made a trip to Wendy's to get me a hamburger. When we left the apartment I had looked to see if there was anyway Jace could be hiding the ring. He wasn’t wearing a jacket and he didn’t have anything big and box like in his pockets that I could see. He just had the bag of bread for the ducks. I figured the ring was in the truck and probably the jockey box.
We drove around for a little bit after going through the drive through at Wendy’s so I could eat. Besides, I love going for rides in the truck. Well the fun ride didn’t last long. We of course ended up getting pulled over for mud flaps on Jace’s truck. It sucked. Since I expected the ring to be in the jockey box all I could think was “Oh no. this will ruin it.” Jace asked me to get the registration from the jockey box and I held my breath. I opened it and was shocked. The ring wasn't in the jockey box. Thank heavens. I was sure he wasn't going to propose now. There was nowhere else the ring could be. We got our fix-it ticket and went to the pond at Bloomington Golf Course to feed our duck friends.
When we arrived there were some people there already so we waited for some of them to leave. Finally a few of them left so we got out of the truck, sat on some benches and fed ducks for a little bit, and me, still oblivious to what was going to happen. These people and their 2 kids came over and were watching the ducks by us and Jace started saying that we should wait until they leave to feed the ducks more. That got me a little suspicious but they were annoying us. Then the kids came running. Chasing the ducks and they went away so we had to stop feeding them. It actually turned out to be a good thing.
We just talked and watched the ducks until the people left, but they didn't leave. I had my camera in my purse and had grab it and took some pictures of the ducks and us while we waited. It was a lot of fun. Jace had us go over to the other side of the pond away from the people since they kept chasing the ducks. We walked over to the other corner of the pond and I fed ducks while we walked trying to get more to come over. We got over to where there were some trees and I finished the slice of bread I had. Jace asked if I needed some more. I said Yea and turned around to grab some bread from him behind me and he was on one knee. He asked if i would marry him. He was shacking and looked so nervous but cute. I happily and excitedly said yes. He gave me a hug and kiss and then put the ring on my finger after giving me some more bread. It was cute. He was so nervous and still shaking when he put the ring on. I yelled it to the golfers on the other side of the pond that I was getting married. None of them heard but I didn't care. I also told all the ducks around us. It was fun. I just wanted to tell everyone.
After all the happy kisses and smiles he showed me where he hid the ring. He had taken out the center of 4 slices of bread and hid the ring in them. I had no idea it was there. The ring was sitting by me the whole time in the truck. He is so sneaky and creative.

Decades Dance

Decades Dance
January 16, 2009

Jace and Hansel decide we were going to the decades dance at the Institute. We were supposed to dress up like a couple form the decades so we made a trip to the DI. Wow, it was entertaining. We ended up going with the 60's era. Hansel's outfit was easy to find but me and Jace struggled for a bit until Hansel found my green bell bottoms and coral color belt. After that my outfit was complete with the help of Jace finding my shoes and shirt. Jace was the hardest to find clothes for. So somehow we decided he should try on my pants and well . . . that was the end of DI. We did find him a woman's silk shirt, jacket, and shoes to go with my pants though. The dance was tons of fun and very entertaining. Apparently interpretive dancing is the new thing.

Our First Date

Our First Date
Friday, December 12, 2008

Friday had arrived. It was the day of my first date with Jace. I curled my hair all cute and waited anxiously for 8:30 to come around so I could see Jace. I didn’t have to wait until our date to see him though. Our Christmas tree fell over so we had to go get Jace to pick the dang thing back up. He had just gotten out of the shower so Staja and I waited upstairs for him. He came up and set our gigantic tree back up. It was so good to see him. He left and got ready for our date and I went back to waiting.
When he came to pick me up he was dressed up very nice. He was wearing a black pinstriped button up shirt and nice more dressy shoes. Lindsey joked about getting me home at a decent hour before we left for our movie. We went to The Four Christmas’s. It was really cute and funny. Jace and I even cuddled a little during the movie and he held my hand everywhere we went. I just loved it. We went back to his apartment after the movie and laid on the love sac. We watched the lights on their Charley Brown tree and talked. He even tickled me a little. We spent the night talking and I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t wait to spend more time with him and most of all in his arms.

A Dream Come True

A Dream Come True
Monday – Wednesday, December 8-10, 2008

After spending  Sunday night with Jace, I was very confused. I text him and asked if he was tired from not really sleeping. He said he wasn’t too bad. We started joking about the night and I asked if we broke his streak. He had told me before that he hadn’t done anything with a girl since he got home from his mission so I was wondering if that was his definition of “anything with a girl.” He text back, “yeah kinda,” so I asked him how. He responded by telling me to think about it. I told him because he attempted. I was shocked at what he wrote back though. His text said, “I didn’t attempt to kiss you.” I told him he wouldn’t and we continued to joke about the situation.
Tuesday I was still puzzled by the Sunday night events and then the kiss text on Monday so I texted him again. I told him it was fun joking about Sunday night but if there wasn’t anything behind it to stop messing with my head. He wrote back, “Whoa hello lol. You joked about it as much as me :) Lets have a chat about it later or something. Not text lol.” That made me so nervous. I didn’t like the whole talking in person thing, especially since the talk in October about his not acting on liking me. I told him to let me know when a good time would be to talk and he said after his friend Jen left. I waited anxiously for a text from him and thought it would never come.
Finally, around midnight I got a text from Jace.  He said that Hansel was in let’s do something mode. It ended up taking until 2 am for me to go down there and talk to Jace. I tried to sneak into the apartment without waking up Hansel who was on the couch but I didn’t do very good. He woke up. I said hi to him and walked straight to Jace’s room and closed the door. Jace was laying on his bed so I sat at the end. We talked for a couple minutes about nothing important before Hansel knocked and came in. He hung out for a good hour and was falling asleep on the bed sitting up before he left for his room. Now that it was past 3 am, Jace and I could finally talk.
Jace brought up the conversation about us very sneakily and told me that we should go to a movie Friday night. All I could say was what? Yea, but I’m confused. He reached for my hand and pulled me down to lay by him. I played my head on his chest and he had his arm around me. We talked and he rubbed my back a little while I rubbed his chest/belly. All of the sudden he turned his head and kissed me. It was just a peck but I was still very shocked. Then, he pulled me on him and I started to sit up. He extended his head off the pillow and kissed me again. It was so cute and I couldn’t help but keep kissing him. I didn’t care about how confusing it would make everything I just enjoyed making out with Jace Taylor after liking him for so long.
After all that, Jace told me that he probably confused me more. I was in total agreement with him. We talked about what we were now and he made me say everything. I suggested NCMO (Non Committal Make Out) which he didn’t like at all so I said the extreme. He asked what that was and I told him we were in a relationship. He said yes. I had to ask a couple times so I knew I wasn’t hearing things. I finally had my guy. It was hard to believe but my dream had come true. I was dating Jace Taylor.
Our date wasn’t until Friday and I couldn’t wait. He asked me to do my hair curly for our date because he liked it that way. I thought it was cute that he had a favorite way for me to wear my hair. He also told me not to worry about getting him anything for Christmas. I hadn’t even thought about that. I had just kissed him and was still trying to process that but he was a couple weeks down the road already. It was cute. When I left Jace sat at the edge of his bed and then pulled me back and wrapped his arms around me. I looked up at him and he kissed me. I loved it. My dream came true.

The Definition of Jace and Kendra

Sunday, December 7, 2008

I had a 12 page English paper to write and I was tired of being interrupted by Staja and Lindsey to talk. Staja just talked about her boy problems that weren’t really problems. They just liked her and she didn’t know what to do. I wanted to get away so I decided to go down to the empty room Jace had in his apartment.  There was an extra couch in there since Hansel brought his and Jace was the only one home so I was sure I could get more done there than at my apartment. I usually go to my office to do homework when I need to be alone but everyone that figured out so I had to find a new hide out. I texted Jace to see if I could come down and he said I could so I packed my bags and went down stairs.
I went straight in the empty bedroom and started working. It wasn’t too long before Jace came in to say hi. We started talking and really got to know each other even more. It was a couple hours or so later that we saw Staja walk to the office then walk back. It was dark outside so she saw the light on in the room and figured that’s where I was since that light is never on. She walked on in and talked to us about her boys. She is so funny. When she left Jace and I kept talking and my English paper was put off. I really liked talking with Jace though. I didn’t want him to leave or anyone to interrupt, but of course Hansel invited himself to join the party. He was there for a little bit before going to the fireside.
Jace and I had started defining each other. I had been telling Jace that he was a player and his new nickname was CJ which stood for Castro Junior. Lindsey liked the original Castro which I so nicely dubbed him. The guy didn’t have the guts/balls to do anything about liking Lindsey so I said he was castrated and abbreviated it to Castro. Jace didn’t do anything about liking me so he had the same problem, but from what I had seen he had a problem only dating me. To me it seemed he had been dating another girl but flirting with me all week until Friday when she would come over. Jace asked why I thought he was a player and that started the whole thing. He asked me the definition of a player so I told him someone that plays a lot of girls. He said he didn’t and I argued that he did. I told him that if he looked up player in the dictionary it would say his name and he responded with, “only in Kendra’s Dictionary.” I give him props for creativity. I can’t remember for sure who did it maybe it was him that grabbed my computer, opened a new document in Word, typed Kendra’s Dictionary at the top then defined player or if it was me trying to prove a point. I think it was Jace but I can’t remember for sure. Somehow it turned into our definition of each other. We would change what the other person wrote too and the lists turned out very funny. It was a lot of fun and got things rolling in a good direction. It was good to really see what we thought of each other but at the same time we also talked about us through the things we typed. The final result looked like this.

Hansel came home from the fireside towards the end of our definitions of each other and yet again invited himself to chat with us. We ignored him a little bit but still talked with him. He had a new toaster that cooked the egg while the bread was toasted. He was so excited to use it that he brought the toaster in the empty room and put it on the vanity along with the bread, butter, eggs, and cooking spray. We all had an egg sandwich and talked. My egg yolk was slightly gooey in the middle and it exploded on my hand but still good, even though it was around midnight.
Hansel eventually got tired and went to bed and I somehow fell asleep on the couch. Jace stayed there too. I woke up to him rubbing my back, saying my name. It turned into an all-night backrub and I slept with my head on his lap and he just rested his head on the back of the couch. I didn’t know what to think of the whole situation but I didn’t mind after all I had wanted something to happen for a while. The dark night faded into morning and I didn’t want to wake up. I rolled over onto my back so that I could look at Jace who was still slouching on the couch with his head resting on the couch back. We smiled at each other and he rubbed my stomach. He tried to be all sneaky and rub my chest but I moved my arm so he couldn’t. We smiled all flirty and I thought he was going to kiss me but he didn’t. I packed up my stuff after my alarm went off and went upstairs. I thought about that night all day and couldn’t figure out what was going to happen after that, but I hoped it would be something good.
