The Proposal
Wednesday March 25, 2009
Well the day Jace Taylor proposed was quite an eventful day. I had some idea that he was going to propose but didn’t know for sure when. You see, he had me read an email from a photographer that wanted to build her portfolio and was doing free engagement pictures. In the email Jace had written that he was going to propose tomorrow. I looked at the date to see when he had written the email and it said 1 am on Wednesday March 25, 2009. I didn’t know what day he was going by so I was expecting it either that day or the next.
We had wanted to go feed ducks for a while and finally had some free time to go that day. We planned on going after I got some homework done and that ended up being around noon so I needed some food. Jace had just eaten some cereal he said so he wasn't hungry. We made a trip to Wendy's to get me a hamburger. When we left the apartment I had looked to see if there was anyway Jace could be hiding the ring. He wasn’t wearing a jacket and he didn’t have anything big and box like in his pockets that I could see. He just had the bag of bread for the ducks. I figured the ring was in the truck and probably the jockey box.
We drove around for a little bit after going through the drive through at Wendy’s so I could eat. Besides, I love going for rides in the truck. Well the fun ride didn’t last long. We of course ended up getting pulled over for mud flaps on Jace’s truck. It sucked. Since I expected the ring to be in the jockey box all I could think was “Oh no. this will ruin it.” Jace asked me to get the registration from the jockey box and I held my breath. I opened it and was shocked. The ring wasn't in the jockey box. Thank heavens. I was sure he wasn't going to propose now. There was nowhere else the ring could be. We got our fix-it ticket and went to the pond at Bloomington Golf Course to feed our duck friends.
When we arrived there were some people there already so we waited for some of them to leave. Finally a few of them left so we got out of the truck, sat on some benches and fed ducks for a little bit, and me, still oblivious to what was going to happen. These people and their 2 kids came over and were watching the ducks by us and Jace started saying that we should wait until they leave to feed the ducks more. That got me a little suspicious but they were annoying us. Then the kids came running. Chasing the ducks and they went away so we had to stop feeding them. It actually turned out to be a good thing.
We just talked and watched the ducks until the people left, but they didn't leave. I had my camera in my purse and had grab it and took some pictures of the ducks and us while we waited. It was a lot of fun. Jace had us go over to the other side of the pond away from the people since they kept chasing the ducks. We walked over to the other corner of the pond and I fed ducks while we walked trying to get more to come over. We got over to where there were some trees and I finished the slice of bread I had. Jace asked if I needed some more. I said Yea and turned around to grab some bread from him behind me and he was on one knee. He asked if i would marry him. He was shacking and looked so nervous but cute. I happily and excitedly said yes. He gave me a hug and kiss and then put the ring on my finger after giving me some more bread. It was cute. He was so nervous and still shaking when he put the ring on. I yelled it to the golfers on the other side of the pond that I was getting married. None of them heard but I didn't care. I also told all the ducks around us. It was fun. I just wanted to tell everyone.
After all the happy kisses and smiles he showed me where he hid the ring. He had taken out the center of 4 slices of bread and hid the ring in them. I had no idea it was there. The ring was sitting by me the whole time in the truck. He is so sneaky and creative.
